The Qatar Chapter was the first individual Country Chapter to be launched in January 2012. The founding companies consisted of Amwal, Al Khalij Commercial Bank, Qtel, Vodafone Qatar and Commercial Bank of Qatar. The Qatar Exchange joined as a founding member in November 2012.
Traditionally, the Qatari membership base with the support of the Exchange has been actively involved with the Association and engaged in various IR activities. The Association and the Qatar Exchange have together hosted the largest annual IR conference in the country for four consecutive years. In addition a range of training sessions and workshops have been delivered to the rapidly expanding membership base.
The Chapter is chaired by Fahmi Alghussein, Chief Executive Officer at Amwal.

With over 22 years of experience in asset management, investment banking and capital markets, Fahmi Alghussein holds the mandate to direct the strategic growth of Amwal as its Chief Executive Officer.
He has a successful track record of combining financial leadership focusing on client relationships, while enhancing commercial opportunities and expanding product portfolio that appeals to the regional banking and finance communities. His business insights clubbed with his approach to enhancing the rapidly evolving investment community in the region has been central to his success. Fahmi is credited with contributing to the development of strong relationships with key financial organisations in Qatar such as cementing partnerships with Ahli Bank on the Qatar Gate Fund and launching the Al Hayer GCC fund with Doha Bank.
Fahmi holds a Baccalaureate Honours in political science and international relations, with a minor in history from Concordia University, Montreal, Canada.
